SPL iiA Willwood calipers uner 15" er's. Possible ?

Any of you fine fellows tried fitting these little puppies under 15" Chimera wheels which are currently fitted to my Griff.

The 240's just don't cut the mustard and I have a chance of getting a bargain pair.

If so, what size discs were you running. Rally design say you can fit up to 300's x 32's. Be nice if that's the case, although they may be talking 16" rims

I run superlights on 16" rims, they *just barely* fitted in the 15" rims I had. But the internal clearance varies quite a bit between different types of rim, and even between individual wheels that are nominally the same.

You will also need to provide the discs+bells and the caliper mounting adapters. It is unlikely that you will find a standard kit specifically for your car so unless the calipers come off another TVR you will have to measure them up and buy these yourself. If you have to buy them separately this lot will probably cost you rather more than the calipers. You will also need to address the brake balance since the effective piston area is significantly different to the originals.

Edited to add: The original single pot calipers spaced out to take 285mm discs worked extremely well for me.

My Fury (other toy) has Wilwood Dynalite 4-pot calipers on 285mm discs inside 15" wheels with reasonable clearance. Don't know how the Dynalite calipers compare on size with the Superlite ones, but I've got both OZ and Compomotive wheels for the car and both fit fine.

Moose, I think the specs and dimensions are on the Willwood website - those calipers are probably much the same size as others, but you could confirm excat dimensions.

Rally Design do a 300mm Grif kit with Willwood calipers. I think they may also sell the caliper spacers to mount your own.

When I was researching bigger brake for my Grif a couple of months ago, the collective wisdom seemed to be that the biggest brakes that could be squeezed inside the standard Grif 15" rims was 300mm discs and calipers. However, it is a very tight fit, and sometime requires some possibly dubious "modifications" to clear everything. Next readily available size down is 285mm discs, which fits comfortably, and provides plenty of extra braking power and heat dissipation.

The only problem is, rally design can supply the parts, but only for calipers to suit 32mm discs. Mine will not accept the wider disc.

Those who have spaced out your standard calipers on 285 discs, do the discs need spacing or bells, or are the caliper plates machined for them to be a straight swap. May go that route, depending on my chat with Godspeed tomorrow.

I'd be most interested to hear what comes of your chat with Mr Godley of Godspeed. He seems to have been somewhat hard to get hold of lately.

I've been looking into uprating the brakes recently and had decided to go with his highly recommended ~£650 kit with 285mm discs and brembo calipers, so took it to David Batty to do at a service. It seems that David paid him for a kit some 6 months ago and he still hasn't seen the parts or been able to get in touch with him via email or phone. The cheque was cashed. He is apparently still around and working as I have spoken to a company who works nearby. Its a shame, cos its supposed to be a great kit. I'd also be interested to know how you go with the willwoods, as I too am still looking to upgrade.

I am running 17' RL-7 wheels, sorry I need to keep the calipers and mounting kit together.
