Griff 500 Glovebox catch

Mine broke the other day after hitting a pothole (no other damage, so could have been worse!)

Does anybody know what type of catch this is - have heard it is a furniture/loft hatch catch, but my local B&Q and Homebase had nothing remotely similar?

I looked at loft catches at a few places and never found them.

What BB says but maybe worth ordering up an extra 1 or 2 incase you mess up. On mine the glovebox didn't align properly so I ended up making an angled washer to compensate but yours maybe fine. Anyway good luck

Cheers BB, i've asked the same question a while ago after shopping round just about EVERY DIY place in Sheffield with no luck, i ended up just tightening the hinges which worked quite well but will always be better with a catch on. I've ordered it, £3.03 plus postage £4.95 and VAT £1.39 totals at £9.37 from www.rswww.com

No worries, now do the the little mod that is in the bible,that should see it last longer, if it doesnt as mine didnt(depends how much you pasenger decides to slame it rather than push it gently) get the cool mod-wise Locking one.

This industrial strength B&Q loft catch has served me well for 4 years. May not look pretty, but it has been 100% reliable.

Same thing happened on my Griff - it's a pethetic catch for such a beast. I replaced it and it did the same again. As such, I then used good old velcro and it's been fine since!

Buy a door solenoid, control relay and a momentary switch. Sit the solenoid in the corner of the glovebox, when you press up on the switch, the solenoid pops out and locks the glovebox, press up again and it opens, just like original apart from its real luxury and completely safe to leave stuff in there. I have instructions i can email, in fact BB they are on the way.

Just a quick note to thank you all for the help - RS Online was back up last night when I checked (should have been bathing the nipper, so in the doghouse again!). Ordered a couple of the catches (a spare in case I have a ham-fisted moment, or for next time it breaks) at 1900 last night, and got it at 11am today. Brilliant!
