Handbrake application

My MOT is due shortly and I have been pondering on the things the tester might pick up on and I have been wondering about the handbrake.
it is adjusted OK so it pulls up after the required number of clicks, but as the Griff handbrake lever is a little bit awkward to pull up unless your standing behind the drivers seat to operate it : I was wondering if the leverage arrangement (96 model)is such that it should allow the linkage to pull up easily despite the poor (ergonmically) angle of your arm.
Mine appears to operate the brakes OK, but I have not tried it on a reasonable incline to see if it will hold the car.
Not easy to quantify but do you find you need to give it a gooda yank to get it to operate?
(True of a lot of things in life as you get older I find) ;)

My Chimaera passed recently (previous MOT tester was familiar with my car, and understood it's little quirks!) - this tester passed it, although he was muttering 'cr@ppy handbrake' under his breath as he wrote out the certificate !
I'd just have a word in his ear during the test saying that the handbrake is poorly designed, but it works ok.

Handbrake on our 1994 500 holds the car fine on steep slopes but needs to be pulled on so hard to do so my other half can't release it..... Also the movement between absolutely nothing and full-on is only 1 click so there's no in-between for gentle gradients either. I guess I'll get round to fiddling with it one day!
