Replacing Radio With Cubby Hole?

I have no interest in the radio/tape cassette in my Griff and would prefer replacing it with a single din cubby hole...

Will any old one do?...anyone else done this?...my intention is to keep my phone in it...would be handy if a charging lead could be housed in there to charge the phone.

The stainless steel dash is being replaced with a walnut burr type one from MADS so am thinking of asking them to do at the same time.

Din is a standard (saying that, I'm assuming it is) so it should be pretty simple.
Be good if you could get a flip down door on it to match the dash...

I made one by folding aluminium sheet and covered it with black sticky-backed plastic (the kind with a baize finish). It was in all of my TVRs and I still have it as a souvenir
