Caerbont Speedo Problem

Hi,

I have a 1996 Griff fitted with the Caerbont Speedo. The problem I have is the Mileage and Trip stop working when I reset the trip. The speedo still works and shows the correct speed. I removed the Speedo and turned the stepper motor by hand and the mileage worked again but after a few miles it stopped again.

As it looked like a faulty speedo , I managed to obtain another one. I fitted it and it worked okay for several trips then yesterday I filled up with petrol and reset the trip and the fault returned. Mileage and trip stopped working but speedo shows speed okay.

could this be a problem with the sender unit, but my speed registers okay.

Any information would be appreciated.

They commonly fail, and whilst some companies used to do repairs (JDO was one), I believe spares are no longer available to do so.

Stripped speedo down. the digits were stuck between 09 and 10, wound numbers by hand on the stepper motor and now working okay. will wd40 sprayed onto the digits stop them sticking. pain having to put it all back together for it to happen again.
