Do you mean the cable for the interior door handle?
If so then I had a similar problem when the retaining nobley bit on the handle end of the cable broke off.
In order to fix it I had to unbolt the center console cover (bolts behind seats) and fiddle around underneath trying to rethread the frayed cable end throught the hole in the handle. It was a hellish fiddly job, but I eventually managed it and then secured the end of the cable with a small electrical cable junction block.
You have to be quite careful with the centre console as it is contructed from relatively thin GRP and could be damaged quite easily.
I think the correct method for removal is to slacken off the handbrake so that the handbrake lever can be raised vertically, enabling complete removal of the centre console. I managed to do the fix without doing this, but it would have been much easier if I had.
