Help Needed - or the Griff has to GO!!

Here's the problem. The good lady is fed up with sitting the new family pet (Bull Terrier puppy) on her lap - little begger aint so little anymore and growing by the day! As the Griff has a roll cage fitted, I can't find a dog cage suitable to fit on the parcel shelf. I need one specially made to fit inside the cage supports and anchor to the harness bolt holes. Does anyone know anyone who has the experise to fabricate a dog cage? This is really really serious - if I can't get it done the car has to go! (I've already thought about getting rid of the wife and dog but...let's not go there!)Any ideas, no matter how tenuous, are welcomed.

I'd suggest you find a local metalworker to make one for you. Try Yellow Pages. Make sure they don't make the base out of mesh, or your dog will be loosing it's claws.

Make sure it has a solid undertray, cos when you accelerate it's going to P itself (all over the parcel shelf carpet)

My mum's dog has a little harness which clips to the seat belt in an ordinary car, or to the roll bar in the Griff. Put a blanket over the carpet and the transmission tunnel and everything will be fine.

As it happens, the dog's harness matches mine, which is amusing to some people, and cheesy to others

what and end up sleeping in the Griff? - OK after a long session but no good on a long term basis - no the wife and dog stay - just gotta hope the cage makers come up trumps!!

We have the same issues with our bull terrier (Staffie). The options we use are

- When wife not in car - use seatbelt harness (thats one cool dog then, sitting up looking out the side window at traffic lights - always gets a smile)

- When wife in car - dog trained to sit/lie in passenger footwell (thats one p1ssed off dog, who is not at all cool - either literally or figuratively)

- Have thought about the back shelf idea but as mutt is now 11, it would be too much of a fanny on to get him up there etc. The idea is still sound though and we thought about somekind of safety net between the two seat backs plus a harness

- Seldom take the mutt out in the Griff

Yup, got the cerb as well, want to be greedy and find a way to keep both. Cant stand the thought of parking a 'normal' car next to me cerb.

Might consider hanging the 'little one' from the roll cage though!!
