Thinking of selling but not sure what for?

Title of thread says it all really!
I've had my N Reg Griff for almost 3 years now and I'm getting itchy feet and keep thinking about trying something else. It's not the car's fault or anything and i still love it to death, I just fancy maybe changing it for something a bit different.
I'm curious as to what it would possibly go for, which I know is a tough one to answer as you can't exactly pick up parkers price guide or anything! My main reason for being curious is although I fancy a change, I'm simply not prepared to let it go for what I'd consider to be peanuts. I've spent too much time & money keeping it as good as can be to just wave goodbye, if you know what I mean.
The car's registered at the end of 95, currently has 39k on it and was MOT'd yesterday and also has 12 months tax on it. Mechanically it's as good as you could find, maintained regularly by Austec & Paul says one of the best std griff's he's seen. Last service it was on their rollers showing 287bhp & 350+ torque which I know is very good for a std 5.0. I'm also going to get them to respray the front end before selling to get rid of stone chips.
It's had thousands spent on it and like I said, I'd just be keen to know what to put it up for as I might look to sell it very soon. Any ideas very much appreciated.

Are you able to have another car as well? If so it might just be a hankering for driving something else that you have and you'll regret selling and getting something completely different. If you do have space for another car think about getting something classic or sporty for cheap money. Depending on what you like you can get BMW 635csi cars for £4k, XJ6's for £3k, Golf GTi Mk2 for £1-2k classic older cars for similar money too.
Then as you aren't driving the Griffith as often you'll enjoy it more when you do.

Assuming this is a genuine topic and not an Ad in disguise. I have exactly the same dilemma in choosing what to replace with. As far as value goes I am always fairly pragmatic about buying toys, I write off the entire sum when it is bought and then am very pleased with anything I get back when it is sold. However I would guess about £8-9K to a dealer or £14-15K privately.
Since being able to afford one I have always had a “Toy” car for weekends and summer evenings. Started with the usual old MG and TR convertibles, then tried an XJS, then a Stag even dabbled with a porker for a while eventually ending up with a V8s. I kept this the longest of all before swapping for the Griff which has now been with me nearly three years. I look at the Ads on here and in mags like Top Marques, chat to people at car shows and motor sport events and wander round specialaist showrooms but struggle to really find anything that appeals.
Certainly a Tuscan or 350tc doesn’t do it for me. I toyed with the idea of an Ultima or Noble but somehow they don’t hit the mark. When I first dove a V8s I knew I had to have one, and the same applied to a slightly lesser degree with the Griff.
The two cars that come close are a Westfield STE8, enormous fun but a lot less practical than the Griff. Or a more recent Elise but they are apparently very difficult to find in the car park amongst all the other loti.

Just want to make it clear that in no way was this supposed to be some kind of ad or anything! My situation is I either sell the Griff and change it for something a bit different in character, currently leaning towards an S2000, or if it would seem that it would only be sold for what I'd consider to be less than it's worth, then I'd keep hold of it.

I'd go with the Keep it! brigade. Let's face it, there were less than 2000 x 500s made. One day, the prices will bottom out. Desirable always. You've got a car that's got all the cubes you need that can be smoothed out as you see fit over the years. Getting an old clssic to run round in aswell, or a jap whizzing thing to nip round in, during the week, in all weathers, may just make you appreciate what's in the garage for those special occasions.
I'm itching to get Vera's programme under way, while the Jetta is still running. Next job is to get Herself summat interesting so she can part ex the carina ... 4 wheel drive, non turbo. Audis? Or V5 or V6 alternative, VW or Seat? Possible Scooby, but she wants all the plush interiors, and dont blame her, cos she dons coat and hats in Bluey and Vera's a waste of space to her, so it could be Audi a8 again...Or mooorrwhohahahahah! MG 260 or Rover 75 V8 power.... have you seen the prices?! Hmmm indeed

If it was me (and it was a few months ago) I'd get a piece of paper and a pencil and draw a vertical line down the middle of the paper. I'd write for and against at the top of the two columns and start writing.
If you can be clear about what you don't like about the Griff, and what you really do like about it, it can help enormously when trying to decide what to change it for. But you have to be very honest with yourself!

If it were me, and I had absolutely no choice but to change my Tam for something else (the words, cold, hell, in and day spring to mind though!), I would get a VX220T, superb and very fast, underated little machines - much more usable power than the S2000, and faster!

Only had mine for 5 months - but done 6000 miles in it - I actually feel GUILTY if my mind meanders to wanting something else.

The garage said that they had a nice Tamora coming in at a good price...hmmm I thought...but then couldnt see a reason for change...and then felt GUILTY for even thinking about it.
So to cheer myself up I bought some P21 Carnauba wax for the weekend fettling !!!

Sold my Westfield and bought a V8S about 6 months ago.Best thing I have done for a long while
Although it was only a 1.6 CVH, it had 135bhp and was fast, and certainly handled well. BUT I get much more enjoyment from the Tiv, and even if you get an SEiGHT, you will find it much less practical than the Griff, and I suspect it will sit in the garage for long periods of time.And don't get fooled by the wet weather gear, it's a waste of space.
You need to be vary careful when buying a V8 Westie, you are not always sure of what you are getting, and there are some dodgy cars out there. Having said that you can pick up a bargain at the moment. Prices of 7 type cars seem to be in freefall at the moment,and will probably continue to fall. There are to many around and I know people are struggling to sell them.The Griff is a much better long term investment,and I don't think the driving experience of the Westfield will compensate.
My suggestion:
KEEP THE GRIFF and buy a cheap Westie. You can pick up a CVH or Crossflow / Pinto engined car for £4 to £5k. They are all quick, and far more agile than the V8 Wessie. That way you have the best of both worlds.There was one advertised for sub £3k recently.

Ah, carnuba wax... Reminds me of the smells in the little shop next to our infant school, with it's glass jars and the collection of thousands of sweets every time I polish Bluey. Then I remember just how traumatic my childhood was. And it's a good job I dont like to drive after polishing, cos the flies stick to the finish, and after such memories I'd possibly drive very quickly to exorcise them from my mind so I like to sit down and have a nice cup of tea after polishing with Carnuba.
