anyone know what year they changed the pre-cats, I know of some 96 and 98 being steel but when was the change over and whats the difference. Might bash mine out if there ceramic :hammer: if not then might not bother or do an excahnge manifolds with ACT...Kinda want more noise :ears: although mine sound spretty good allready:)

I think you'll be wanting to have a chat with ACT. I've got the mainfolds with the removable bypass pipes and it takes less than 10 min to switch them. Not that I need to but it also makes it much easier to remove the exhaust manifold.

Took mine off, one precat was sat on main cat.Is a bugger to knock out ended up cutting mine and rewelding its a cheap stainless steel, dont seem to notice it being any louder or different mind you only one of mine was working.

Simon,I took my own precats out,after speaking to Steve @ThamesValleyRacing.The trick is to take out the Y piece to give you room to work then you can proceed .Its best to take out the lamda's(I have adapted a long reach socket for this)but I managed to do mine with them in.
You need to use a large masonary drill (20/25mm) to drill a hole through the precat,you can then peel the cat out,if you try to bash it out it just folds up and is a nightmare!,use an vac to suck out all the crap and wear a mask.
I don't think this mod gives you a bhp gain but you do pick up more torque.
