bonnet locking plate

Does anyone know what sort of glue the metal plate on the bonnet which clips into the lock is stuck with? Mine has been broken off and I can see a brown residue of something. I could fibreglass it on but I dont think it was just stuck with resin. Any ideas greatfully accepted. John.
