water in the boot

After having thought i'd cured this,i find i now have water in the corners of my boot again,either side of the fuel tank.I stopped it coming through the bootlid hinge bolt holes,which it definately was doing,but after being left out in,and driving in the rain on sunday,water is present again.I've read a previous thread where BB had the same issue,and thought it might come in from behind the fuel tank.The thread has no definate conclusion however,so i'm wondering if anyone else has cured this problem(i've mailed bb in the mean time).Cheers,Mike.

...it didnt happen when you took your roof cover off did it Mike? There was a sh1tload of water on that and ,IIRC, the boot was open at the time....

Ditto - in spite of all my efforts, still occasionally find water in corners of boot. However, don't think it's coming through the hinge bolts either as these have had the Seak'n Seal treatment. I have two thoughts about this;
Firstly that the rain was almost horizontal down here last weekend so the water could well have been driven in over the boot seals. I find that when the rain is like that it depends more on which way round I park than anything else!
Secondly I notice that on my griff there appears to be a join/overlap in the fibreglass at the back of the wheel arch. If water could get in here then it would be bound to collect either side of the fuel tank. I was going to bung some sealant there this weekend and see what happens.

The only other thing that has happened recently is that I spilled some petrol when filling up and it ran down the rain gutter dissolving everything in its path so I have had to reapply Seak'n Seal. It might be worth an extra application just in case.

Its been a while since i was under my car but iam sure there are holes into the boot, would be behind the fuel tank so you can only see them from underneath. Maybe the spray is drawn in, are the rear vents replaced by speakers ? I dont do a lot of rain driving so i only get the flood of water when i open the boot, you know where the hinge cut out is !! I try to open slowly and hold so the water goes into the gulley before opening fully.

Graham-i know what you mean,i must admit that was my first thought.But there seems too much water for it to be that,also it was only wet on the floor and not on the vertical boot carpet as if it had run down.
David-I do have rear speakers in place of the vents.I'm going to go looking for the holes you describe,as this is also what BB found(he's kindly sent me a helpfull e-mail).

I think i'll fill them all in and fit a breather pipe,so air can get out but no rain can get in.Thanks for the help guys-Mike.
