Track day tyres

Hi guys
Have just taken delivery of a set of OZO rims and intend to use the original set of rims with the car for track day use only. Can any of you track day wizards recommend a good road legal track day tyre ( need to be able to drive to and from the track ) The SO2 are good and progressive when losing grip but I am looking to improve on my lap times so would welcome your experience of any other tyres. Last year the brakes were done, the car was chipped by mark adams, bosh injectors were fitted, a new bosh airflow meter was fitted and a ACT flaired trumpet base was fitted also. The net result is a car that comes alive at track days and gives some of the newer TVRs a run for your money down the straight. If I am a good boy santa might buy me a set of nitrons as well. So comments on both would be welcome.

Toyo R888's...no contest!

If they do them in your rim size. I use 225x45x16 all round, think 15' are on the way.

15" tyres come in 205/50 and 215/50 flavours. I've got 215/50/15 on the front and 225/50/16 on the rear. Haven't been on track with them yet but great fun in the snow!!

know what you mean garry, a mate took a picture of mine in the Ring carpark. I was trying to get in (in the snow) then got oout with it still in gear!!! wheels were turning in reverse on tickover!!

I would go for Yokie AO32r. Soft compound They are effectively a road legal slick. Don’t get the super soft as they will last about three laps ! The dry grip is enormous, just a bit scary in the wet though. The backs should really be on a 8inch rim but they seem to work OK on the standard 7.5s

I have Michelin Piot Sport Cup; the ones that are available as option on BMW M3. 225 on front and 245 on back. I'm no expert, but was very impresssed with them on trackdays. I also found jiggling with the tyre pressures excellent to dial in/out over/understeer.
