i e mailed the guy yesterday asking about part exes etc and what he would offer against them, he was very realistic offerin around £8050 for my CLK 230k(i could turn £8500ish if i sold private) he also offered £4.5k for my Honda CBR600RR which is again a very fair price especialy considering time of year, he then went on to say that if both are in good condition,which they are he would swap them for the Griff,so really my question is,shall i do it?,and was there a member nearby that considered looking over it on the previous thread?.and do you guys(and girls) think the car is worth what i would be paying for it?,sorry to ask so many questions but becoming a TVR owner would be 1 great christmas present for me , also what is the best route to go down for insurance? i would buy a £1k or so 406 diesel if need be to drive around in the week, however im getting a company car within the first quarter of next year anyway so would only be doing about 3 or 4k a year in the griff at the most,aaaaaggggghhhh help i cant make up my mind.

Hold out until you find something else,or until you've sold your existing transport,and can buy privately.That car is missing service history,and there are better ones around i'm sure.The golden rule when buying a tiv is not to rush into it,dont be tempted,i know its hard,but i'm speaking as one who learn't the hard way with my first.Wouldn't want anyone to go through that.

I went and looked at the Griff, I would not buy it at the price advertised! I would say its worth approx £11K. in my opinion. I would take someone who knows a bit about Griffs & look at it yourself. There will be many more for sale in this price region in the new year.

i have asked about the service history, i was under the impression that it has been serviced since 2002 but from an independant(sp?) oposed to a TVR main dealer, if this is the case i will ask for some more close up photos tomorrow and perhaps send them to someone on here to look at?,if it hasnt been serviced since 2002 i will definatly walk away.

IMHO if hes willing to take your car and bike then to me he seems to show a little desperation ( not saying anything about your car and bike mind ) to move it on.

no i can completly understand what you mean, in all honesty a used CLK is a very very easy car to sell on the whole, and a CBR600RR is a very popular used bike so chances are he would probably turn them both around before the Griff,on the other hand the car might be a lemon and i wouldnt want to arange to do a deal without seeing,if you were passing for work i would be incredibly grateful if you could have a quick look and give me your opinion on it as its a fair way away from me down here in surrey

I have not seen the car but its been advertised for the few months..... as BB was saying, desperation sell..... as you say yours are easy to shift whilst a TVR is a specialist car for a specialist market.

Tobe honest the only way to judge the car is to go and see it....... photos will always tell lies.

I travelled the length and breadth of the UK looking for mine. You aint that far way in my opinion, and travelling is something you'll have to get used to as there is not a dealer/indie in every local town.

so you reckon perhaps just stick mine up on autotrader/ebay and find a better one? i looked on autotrader and there was another 4.3 for £10995 with 57k on the clock, it looked quite nice from the pics but again i cant be sure,still its alot more local, for some reason im really prefering the idea of a 4.3 now as there arnt as many about,they sound nicer and are aparantly very similar in bhp and performance to the 500,i am quite fortunate as im within 20-30 mins of both mole valley and fernhurst for servicing.

have you any idea when you would want to sell?,if you could let me know i can try and make arangments to sell both the CLK and bike in time and would be very interested,Lancashire is Manchester/Blackpoolish isnt it? sorry i cant remember from memory.
