Griff Precat Exhaust

Just removed the exhaust system on my 1992 4.0L and noticed that at the end of the manifold down pipe is a 6 cm long internal ridge running lengthwise at the outlet. Was this intended to `key`the exhaust system to the manifold and stop it from twisting or has someone had a real good time with a hammer ? Your help would be appreciated.

Could it be a welded seam?

No,its not a weld, its about 1.5 cm wide where the pipe has been pressed in.

Sorry if we can't have any pictures can you give a slightly better description... are we talking on the 'Y' piece where it joins the exhaust? I can check on mine if it is visible on the outside?

Yes, its on the outlet end of the y piece where the front exhaust pipe pushes in.

Just shecked and theres nothing visible on the outside of mine!

Thanks griffsmith, looks as if someones been a bit heavy handed when they fitted the last exhaust system then.
