Filled up with Optimax this morning and have not been able to lock the boot since. It won't latch and won't remote lock. The doors are OK however so I presume it isn't a fuse. Any ideas where to start. I've looked in the boot but can't find a solenoid, so I am stuck. The Bowden cable to the latch is secure ie the solderless nipple isn't loose. Help please

The solenoid is behind the carpet on the o/s just above the top corner of the number plate. It would still shut if the solenoid was knackered so it isn't that.
Check the metal catch on the boot lid hasn't come loose first as ours needed some adjustment to get it to lock properly without putting pressure on it - easy and quick job.
It may need a packing washer or two behind it.

I had exactly the same on mine a few weeks after buying it. In my case I was at fault. Where the boot catch engages with the inside of the boot there is a flap covered in carpet. I had managed to place this over the catch, thus stopping the boot from shutting properly. Have a look for this flap and see if you can move it out of the way and then try to shut the boot.

be carefull when working in that area that you dont shut the boot with the soleniod disconnected!! (or at least have a full fuel tank!)

I managed to do the same thing and found that it was caused by my briefcase resting against the release cable behind the boot carpet. Red faces all round!

Can second the Little bit of cloth getting in the way. It has an thin piece of steel behind can come loose and if you dont push it back between the 3 little holding slots it can get in the way of the catch an stop the boot closing properly.

Had a peoper look at it this morning. Carpet and alloy flap well clear of mechanism. The part that is screwed to the boot lid is attached by two hex head screws and it appears to be as low as it can be adjusted (i.e max protrusion from boot lid)as one of the screws it at the end of the elongated adjustment slot. I spent a couple of minutes trying to figure out how the whole thing works, I used a piece of bar to simulate the part screwed to the boot lid and as I pressed the bar into the body part of the latch there didn't appear to be any latching going on. Any more ideas anyone?

prehaps the latching part has fallen of and gone down the back of the carpet?

Thanks for all suggestions. For the record I've sussed it out. Although the nipple on the cable to the solenoid looked tight it had in fact slid about four millimeters leaving the delatching lever in a non operational position. It appears that the delatching lever needs to be under a slight tension otherwise the latch isn't cocked and won't latch when the boot lid part enters it. There you go, it's one to remember for the future. Cheers Ed
