Hi
I have just got lots of history, from TVR and from DVLA. If you phone TVR, ask for Lisa, she will charge you £35 and give you original purchase spec, and service history. She logs inputs from TVR garages ref history. You can write to the DVLA, feepaying services, costs £5 for a full history, they give you all log books, it's a bit scrappy (comes from microfische), but legible (look up address from internet). You need to have an excuse to ask for the history, but 'classic car' was enough for mine. Good luck, nic.
ps, you can tell the original engine size from teh engine number, 40P in the middle is 4l. 43P is 4.3, and BV had a V at the end.

I don't think the V on the engine number specifically denotes a BV, although its true, many BVs do have this.
As with everything TVR, there seems to be no foolproof method of checking this.
The factory will be able to tell you if it was a factory BV, or have a mechanic look for the BV bits such as lightened flywheel.
