First outing this year, First breakdown ! !

took the griff for a quick spin today, wish i hadn't bothered, red warning light came on about 1 mile down the road, pulled over and the car droped all its coolent over the road, poped the bonet to find the fan belt thing(serpintine v8) had come off.

had to wave down the traffic and borrow sombodys phone to get help, guess what stoped, yes you got it right a very smug porker driver, well at least he stoped i suppose.

how on earth do you get it back on, linked it around all wheels, unscrewed the tension wheel and its about 2cm short, i now it has to be tight BUT i run a gym for god sake 19 stone and still cannot make it fit !!!

anybody got any ideas !!

Rob,you dont unscrew the tension wheel,you put your socket wrench on the front nut,and turn clockwise to allow you to put the belt on.I found it easier to leave the smallest pulley until last when refitting the belt.

Mine has popped of a couple of times, using the wheel brace, you can lever the pulley using the exhaust manifold. Mine has only done it at high revs and going over a bump, even replaced the belt the first time.

It's dead easy, just remember the order the belt goes round the pulleys. (We managed to put one on wrongly!)

it is a really easy job when you know how!! only took me 5 min to sort out this afternoon, rather than the 1 1/2 hours yesterday, tryiny to prize the flywheel and block around to the right position (Doh)
