changing the headlight bulbs and with which?

Couple of other threads on here about griff headlight bulbs - following them I bought a pair of Philips Vision Plus from www.powerbulbs.com - about £18.50 pair. Delivered in about two days....
supposed to be 50% brighter than the originals - don't know about 50% but definately noticably brighter ....

I got the Osram Silverstar (I think)as they had a slightly better write up than the Philips bulbs. Been in 18 months and pretty impressed - not changed one yet and we use the car daily.
We also put the David Beer (modwise) headlight upgrade kit in at the same time. DB's stuff is top notch and great value.

I did that as well, see other threads where we all wax lyrical about the modwise kit.
Came on to add that it's worth checking the alignment of your driving lights as well (the ones in the air intake). Despite being 'checked' by my dealer at MOT/Service time, another place pointed out to me that they were angled down into the ground. Its a 10 minute job to align them parallel, no tools needed, makes a huge difference down the country lanes.
Juts goes to show I shouldn't have listened to 'they all do that sir'

Should add to answer you original question it isn't too bad a job replacing the headlight bulbs, looks more daunting than it is, but takes time to do and you need to make sure you have plenty of sealent to use in the wheelarch.

Whatever you do, be careful NOT to push the headlamp unit out of its spring clips into the pod when fitting the bulb. Retrieval is not impossible, but is difficult and will almost certainly scratch the paint on the pods. Hold the bulb holder with one hand and fit the bulb with the other - or if doing it one handed be gentle. Access is best with the wheel removed, particularly if you've never been there before.
Cant recommend Dave Beers Modwise kit enough - check his site (or drop him a lne). It has brought my lights upto at least the standard of a normal production car now
It also comes with 4 replacement Philips Vision Plus lamps. As also said do check the alignment though as i only just had this done and a close rined whom I ws following said my drivers side is out of line so he had to change his mirror position when I was following him!!!!

thanks david, also to let you know posted the alternate hot start kit back to you today, havent fitted the 2 stage cooling system yet as was unsure of a few things and have run out of time this weekend.
