1995 Griff 500 Cabin Heater

Bought the car aboout 6 months ago, and winter has been cold !! - Car has been used previuosly in summer only and I can't get any heat into the cabin / onto the screen.Every switch bar 1 seems to be working. - 2 upper heater control switches and lower LH switch all cycle the switch pots. I can hear them in the passenger footwell( ignition on / engine off ).
Lower RH switch ( I think it's supposed to be a fan control ) doesn't seem to do anything.
There is also a 2 speed fan switch located under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. This switches on a fan which blows "like a good 'un ", but I haven't got a clue where to !!
I have searched the message boards, and the Griff heater controls seem to be one of lifes mysteries, however most of mine seems to function, appart from delivering NO HEAT.
All suggestions welcomed ( especially this weather )

The fan under the dash is just that - a fan, so don't expect any hot air from that! 
As for the rest, check the hoses haven't fallen off the vents (mine had) - get at the ones on the dash by taking the radio out, and grovel for the ones in the footwell (by the driver's left knee and the passenger's right knee). Then get yer Bostik out and make sure the carpet is glued down around the vents and the pedal box; it's all that's standing between your knees and an arctic gale!

That would make sense I guess, as I never get anything out of the vents on the dash. The one by my left knee is great though, about the only thing that does produce heat in my car (apart from the engine!) Is there another fan down in the drivers footwell then? I've noticed the dial just under the steering wheel, is that related to it?

Thanks all for the comments. Everything working perfectly now. It was thanks to mongoose who solved the problem.
The solution was simple,PUSH THE FAN SWITCH TO TURN IT ON!! and I feel a bit of a prat. In my defence there is no mention of pushing the fan switch in the Handbook, which only talks about turning it to adjust speed. Moral of the story " Buy the Bible" - Ordered one yesterday !!.
