Bonnet catch cable broken

It's most frustrating! I want to put the car back together, but it's conspiring against me.

Anyone know how to open bonnets without the cable? Preferably without breaking the bonnet...

Can you see the cable outer under the dash, if you pull the outer through, you may be able to get hold of the remnant of the inner, depends where it is broken. Otherwise get a gynacologist! Tricky.

Any joy, Thats got to be a pig of a job to get too, can you get it on some ramps and see if you can reach from underneath with one of them extendable things with the griper on the end.

I already have one of those It's been very useful for retrieving the pin from the stepper motor when I fired it across the engine (long story)

The cable was broken right at the catch end. Got the bonnet open - in a nice easy way. So I'm not going to post how to do it here!

Now thinking of a career as a gynacologist...

Realising this could be a tricky problem I have anticipated a cable fail and installed a second bonnet release cable. Quite simple really, just install a bicycle brake cable connected to the bonnet catch, across the back of the bulkhead behind the plenum and exit into the passenger footwell. Create a loop in the cable for a handle and a spring between washers to tension. (Of course, having now installed my cable will never fail!).
