As I live in Central Scotland, can anyone offer any recommendations on a tuning specialist for a Griff 500 in Scotland?

I've noticed the car starting to 'pink' under heavy acceleration and I've read other threads on this subject with interest. I don't want to take the short remedy of retarding the timing as that simply bypasses the problem rather than fixing it, plus it would likely result in a loss of power (NO CAN DO!).

Would love to book the car in for a session with Mark Adams to get a general checkup and have the setup and mapping done properly by somebody who really knows what they're doing. However, that would be a helluva round trip so wondered if there were any alternative tuners within a more reasonable distance but still recommended to do a proper job???

Thanks Mark,

Was thinking more of somewhere with rolling road type facilities so the car could be analysed and checked on power etc and I know Noel doesn't have that facility. Otherwise, it's guess work and you can't test until it's back on the road.

If you know the car is pinking, then the RR session would be wasted and they probably wouldnt do a full session when the spot it pinking.
I would suggest you get a health check from local specialist as noted above before RR session.
I was in the same boat as you at the end of last year, glad i didnt waste my money on a RR session before i had it checked out first. (in my case i ended up with a total engine strip) hopefully your issues will not be so bad.
p.s. mine started out as a pinking above 4k rpm and lacking in power. I am told that this is a classic sympton of cam wear, although in my case significantly worse problems found.
could just be a faulty HT lead, but would be a shame to waste a RR session for an electrical gremlin.

Yur a funny man Col! However, I ain't taking a slagging from the guy who

- turned down the opportunity of a trip to Spa AND The NordSchleife in favour of 'Home Improvements'???
- Then there was the BMW 3 series in favour of a TVR??? (saw sense there eventually tho)
- Then....do you really want me to go on?

Ok mate, lets call it quits. Though Jock reckons the pinking your hearing is the sound of your La Senza G-string twanging as you accelerate. Stop wearing girls breeks and you'll be fine man !!

I thaught my car was pinking... 1 indie specialist tried to rectify this and failed.... took it to the local Morgan service place and sorted.... knackered gaskets ( the big flanged ones at the front of the engine bay before they merge into one)
