About 400/450 with fitting, geo check and VAT
About £800ish for a full kit
You could buy some alloy bodied Protechs for that money.Just imagine,no nasty archaic heavy and inefficient steel body or internals,no rust when the plating chips off,no welded on top and bottom eyes and a three year warranty instead of two!!The fact that the Protechs will perform better is also an added bonus of course

True or on the same labour calculation you could pay £500/550 for the Protec shocks

This month's Sprint is pushing them at £530 + vat for all four corners. Surely an indy can fit and set them up for less than £230? At least, I hope so.
Sent an e mail to the company last night, asking about a few bits like tyres and shox & I aint even had an acknowledgement yet
The TVRCC kit is completely different, in that it's not welded up but all alloy apart from the barrels and consequently costs more.
If you are having dificulty getting information, drop me a mail or give me a ring.
The price for the front end NP steel kit I quoted is £229 plus VAT and I allowed 3 hours fitting and front Geo check, some indy's only do full laser alignment and charge £100 for the full monty.

Mind you,the protechs should be over £800 a set,so a bit of a bargain at the moment to say the least. >> Edited by Mongoose on Wednesday 15th February 22:23

See my previous post, the np steel kit is 450plus vat and the Gaz Gold Kit you mention is £540, I suspect our friend has had a quote for a front end in nickel plated steel by somebody and was price checking.

FFS Mike give it a rest now, we all know how you feel about Joo and his Protechs. The guy specifically asked about GAZ dampers.
Yes I know you'll say you only want to enlighten people on this 'great product' but come on change the record mate

Why only two? Dampers should almost always be replaced as a full set.
Its Ok Pete, they always come back for the other half later and I do warn them of this fact.
Are you coming to SCH, I want to show you my new improved toy

.I think that the fact that more suspension upgrades for my griff being uppermost in my mind at the moment, doesn't help

Spot on - I was doing a quick price check.
However, I now have a new dilema. I didn't realise that you should replace all four. I thought replacing a pair was good enough?

Some do but its not a Vauxhall Nova is it? if the rears and front are original and you get one end working really well and the other end is worn, it is logical to suggest that the spring, damper balance is going to be poles apart, add a powerful V8 engine, wet roads and fast road driving is going to be a nightmare.
IMHO these cars are not great to chuck about on the original equipment anyway and need less bump and more rebound on the back and thats what decent aftermarket dampers and spring combinations will give you.

What parts of the original kit are replaced in alloy Derek? Presumably not the piston rod, the valving shims, the bleed or internal barrel, and not the outer barrel either. hopefully the valve shim carrier will be alloy anyway even on the basic kit as it's much easier to machine the complicated oilways in alloy. .. so is it just the end eyes that are alloy? Only one end eye contributes as unsprung mass so not a mahoosive weight saving I think you'll agree? Is there anything else in alloy I've missed?
