hi.everyone can someone please help me i am pulling my hair out as i cant closed boot on griff it seem to happen after i washed the car i went to press button nothing happened checked fuses found blow fuse ,replaced fuse try again pop fuse went again also all instraments on dash not working i left it 1 day as of work went back try again put new fuse in again everything on dash fine but boot release not working what i am woundering is there an inline fuse between the button and the boot and if so can someone please tell me where to find it if not then it could mean dash out to look at switch many thanks in advance paul.

That sounds more mechanical - a problem with the boot catch itself or the release wire. Have you emptied the boot? I had an embarassing experience when the boot would not close - my briefcase was resting against the release mechanism!

Right, are you saying it shuts proerly but won't latch closed i.e. the latch hook isn't flipping over or... are you saying that the latch has come across and the lid won't shut down fully? When you press the open switch does the solonoid work i.e. you'll hear the click as it mvoes the hook across? If so then assume it's mechanical in which case it sounds like the latch needs resetting. It was my thread. I had same problem after filling with petrol. In my case the solderless nipple on the delatch Bowden Cable (from the solenoid) had slipped a couple of millimetres along the cable. This had the effect of allowing the delatching lever to move into a position where it wasn't cocked properly and therefore wouldn't latch on to the boot lid peg. Trial and error by moving the nipple back into a lever cocking position sorted the mystery.

hi rich the boot lid is not closing the latch is not engageing it also there is no click from the button when pressed i don,t know if that,s be cos the boot is not shut mybe it has got 2 be closed to click i am not sure

Nah, solonoid goes whenever you push the dash button regardless of state of latch. The solonoid is in the boot to the right under the carpetting.

If the fuse keeps blowing the solenoid could have seized/burnt out, or the relay (if there is one) to operate it could be sticking - either would mean no latching when you shut the boot, 'cos the mechanism's stuck on 'unlatch'?

thanks rich ihave now got latch engageing so i don,t think it is mech,so i will take a trip down to my local maplins store and buy a solenoid let you all koww how i get on many thanks paul2000

The solonoids do deteriorate, I had to replace the one on my S3c as it slowly becamse harder to open the boot - it was much better afterwards.
