hi every one can someone please tell me if the fans on a griffith blpw 2 ways one blows towards rad, other blows towards engine is this right or should they both be blowing one way if so which way many thanks paul

They should both run the same way,sucking air in from outside

ok thanks looks like i got something to do on a cold saturday morning i,ll try changeing wires first see where that that takes me thanks

Changing the polarity over will normally make the fan run in the opposite direction

the fan on the passenger side blows towards the rad ,other one blows towards engine channged wire over still runs the same open to offers anyone i, also noticed the fan that blows towards the rad is a different make 2 the other one may be i could just turn fan over.

When you say you changed the wire over,what did you do exactly?
A fan is a dc motor,and they can be changed in the direction they run by reversing the polarity.It is more than possible however,to add a little circuitry to ensure the fan will only run in one direction,hence in my second post i said 'normally' when refering to reversing polarity.If you have just swapped the connectors over on each of the fans,then this wouldn't work,but if you have changed the polarity(= and -) on the one faulty fan,and this still didn't work,then it's not looking good im afraid.It would be messy and difficult to put the fan on the other side of the rad really.Imho you would be better off getting the correct fan,from one of the tvr breakers if you dont want to buy new,and fitting that.

hi mongoose all idid waschange the wire over you were right it made no diffrence i will take the fan out tomorrom and have a good look at everything i also might have alose connection some where as when i play with the wire on the fan it stops and starts oh can someone surply a good beakers telephone number please just in case igot to buy one

You might not need to go to the trouble of removing the fan.Quite often the connectors can become loose and corroded/dirty,so your stop/start fault when you move the wires could come from this.I would first try reversing the polarity on the n/side fan to try and make the fan run in the correct direction,just connect the two wires the other way around to how the connector will presently allow you to connect them,then you are reversing the polarity.Just do this briefly to see if this changes direction.
If your fan does need replacing,one of the breakers like Bell Hill will have a replacement :-01373 834252

ok, thanks mongoose i will have alook first thing in morning as i hate starting something i cannot finnish no light e.g. let you know to tomorrow thanks again paul p.s all i did was change polarity on nearside fan it made no difference

On some fans you can remove the fan blade unit and refit it the other way round. Might be worth a try?

found out where the problem was crimped wire by fan fan still doe,s not seem to be going as fast as the other 1 i might look around for onther 1 will see how it goe,s when i take her out today manythanks to all again paul
