I've got the mounts and new bolts and nylocs.
How easy is this to do? What do I need to do, in what order and how long is it likely to take (i'll double whatever is suggested).

Can't find anything in the bible but I'm sure Steve will tell me otherwise.
TIA.

FFG - Just out of interest where did you get the mounts from?

Looking to replace mine soon and need to find a source.

Thanks

tvrcarparts. Waiting for them from the factory is a lottery and the ones I've got a well and truly sha66ed.
They were around £50 delivered for the 2.

Ian at Middlewich has just done mine, one side seemed fairly easy but the other was a pig to get at

To prevent the rubber getting broiled from the exhaust heat my mecanic had build a aluminum shield around the mounts. This is a common measure, check the forum.

I've done a couple of searches and my mount looks different to others I have seen. I'll post a picture when I've took one. Also, can I just wrap the mount in heatshield tape (well it looks more like fabric than tape - the same stuff as the exhaust manifolds are wrapped in?)

Not difficult.
Axle stand front of car, take weight off/lift engine. (trolley jack and bits of wood )
Cant remember but not that long, even for you

Tip, if the mount wont go in you can grind off a few mm from the two studs...

Will be doing mine again soon (must be the torque eh ffg )

nearly forgot take front wheels off.... Sorry thought i better say it or might kill me if you forgot.

Cheers Del,
I'd worked out the wheels had to come off (they usually do).
Your mounts must be dying through smoke inhalation. Torque my arse. Should get on the Power rolling road soon so i'll update then - only done 450 miles since the rebuild.

Thought about doing that but you cant see em going and the pulley cut through the bottom of the swirlpot neck

I might see if i can get some better quality/more heat & torque resistant ones made from my old ones

heat isolation tape will work, its the less elegant solution however. paint it black with heat resistant paint (for exhaust pipes etc.), just for the looks. Chris

Chris, as the rubber flexes will the paint not just crack and fall off.

Del - did look at the CRC2044 and that looks mroe like the ones i've got. Pictures on the search revealed a domed top which looks like it's been superseded. They came from tvrcarparts so I'm sure i've got the right ones.

If they are so sh1t shouldn't we look for better alternatives. With us and the Chims (and I beleive Wedges and S's, maybe Cerb's and later) there must be a pretty strong demand. I'm sure we'd be happy paying more for a better quality item and piece of mind.

don't think so as the isolation band soaks the paint. Have it sprayed on the isolation wrap of my cats and exhaust pipes: www.thegriffithpages.com/component/option,com_wrapper/Itemid,53/

Drivers side was ok for me but the passenger side ...Bloody hell Came out ok but new one going in :Banghead: having the engine rest on a jack is helpful here as it can help being able to move it up and down gentley to help get that one in, or like others say, Take a bit of the bolts.
Was going to document it all, have pics etc somewhere

Trying out the flat ones this time, got em of fleabay a fair bit cheaper than rimmers if my memorys right.
Will see how they last... obviously having more power than Del I guess not long... yeah right your probably gonna get through all thats left in supply before i need some more

Did mine too, Peter. Never mentioned any hassles with either side. Then again, he's been so busy I guess he didnt notice. Great price, too. £400 all in for the mounts, new plugs & leads, new upper wishbone near side and interim service. Oh and he tidied my windscreen washer wiper set up too.
