Louder!!! Faster??? Cooler???

hi all went to the regional meet at the Bulls head last week and there were a number of 500 griffs that sounded really different to mine. Louder and more urgent and really when they started it was a real occassion which to me is what its all about. Hows this done?? is it precats out and if so theoritically will the car run cooler as there is less back pressure? plus can they? do they need putting back at MOT time. ther car that sounded fabb was an imperial blue car on chrome alloys.

,you gan get this affect in a couple of different ways.You can take the pre-cats out,which definately does help make a nicer sound,and also,and far more importantly i feel,helps reduce the underbonnet temp a fair bit.It also greatly reduces the amount of heat which is right next to your suspension!I've done this on both of the Griffs i've had and would very much recommend it.The other popular way to increase the decibels is to sleeve the back box by replacing the perforated pipe in the silencer with a solid pipe,or a cheery bomb can also be used.Forgot to add,no you dont need the pre-cats for the mot,as long as everything is running fine it will pass with ease.
How did the fan issue go after?Did the 40a fuse stop both from running?And was the extra clicking on the second relay a loose terminal or connection?

All things relative, aren't standard Griffs loud enough? My standard 500 is far and away the loudest thing in the street. And at what point do you get into trouble with BiB & the MOT boys - I thought noise was controlled by statute. Our friends on two wheels are about to have legislation introduced to stop them removing the exhaust silencers from their bikes, so how come we appear to be able to just keep turning up the volume to 11?
Can anyone enlighten me as to the legal aspects of this subject?

IMHO a 'standard', ie catted Griff (so excepting 4.Xs) are pretty much inaudible. My 1997 model was.

My understanding is that TVR are, or were, exempt from certain rules/regs as they were a low volume producer. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! I've been pulled over a couple of times but on both occasions they were only interested in the speed, not the noise.

Mines a pecat running cherry bombs.... the garage Offord..ed a quiter version FOC..... No Fin Way.... my car is one of the loudest non heavily modified (110 dB)
I thought you were going to go back to a quieter version Steve?? Anyhow can you send me a sound clip of yours? I'm considering doing the same to mine if I can raise the funds and I don't have to sell her.

Hi FFG It was the Imperial blue car that rooled up on 18inch chromed rims. It parked near me on the very font row.
