I've posted this on the TVRCC so sorry for the double post to those that read both

Hi All

Car is a 1998 Griff 500 (serp)

I've got a pin hole leak on the bottom hose, the one connected to the waterpump, so it obviously needs replacing. Loooking at where its running, about 3/8" from the exhaust manifold, it's obvious why it has started leaking. I'm surprised it hasn't melted a long time ago.

The hose doesn't look original, in fact it's been adapted, I'm sure, from another vehicle. The problem area is just after the hose has made a 90 degree turn and enters the steel tubing on its way tho the bottom of the radiator.

What I'd like to know from those of you with serp engined Griffs, is are all of them like that, or has the standard hose got a shorter run before the 90 degree elbow so it will run further away from the exhaust header.

While I've got the water drained, I'm thinking of changing all the hoses.

Does anyone know where to get a complete set from? Sometime this week if possible

What are the ACT sets of hoses like, quality wise, and does anyone know, off hand, if the full set quoted at around £125+ vat includes the metal pipes, or are they extra?

Obviously luck was on my side today, as I was playing around with the stepper motor because the idling was awful (it wouldn't) and whilst out on test, adjusting the idle screw on the plenum, just to get me home, I noticed the spray of coolant straight onto the exhaust. It wouldn't have been fun if it had decided to let go miles from home.

I've ordered a new stepper motor to sort out the idling, just waiting on the post

Hoover.

Idling is definitely the stepper motor as it is seized in one position

I managed to get a new one on eBay for £32, so it's one of the cheaper fixes for once

Have just fitted a set of ACT Hoses, Ali Rad & Stainless Pipes. The quality of anything that ACT does in my experience is fantastic. The whole set up now inspires great confidence. You can fiddle about to get the hose from the water pump a bit further than 1/2" from the manifold. Hope this helps.

I've had ACT Hoses on both my TVRs and can safely say that they are of excellent quality and fit. I'd definitley reccomend them.
