Door lock

Just got the Griff back on the road again, running great

One of those little electrical glitches though, my passenger door will not lock.
I have pushed the little button on the sill and i can hear a little click in the centre consol.

Any advice welcome. ( Have tried the search, but seems dead the last couple of days )

Can you hear the solenoid operating?
My door lock stopped working and it was because the bolt connecting the solenoid to the lock mechanism had sheared. Solenoid still worked though - but didn't actuate the lock. If the solenoid is not operating, the problem is likely electrical.

No I cant hear the distinctive click by the door lock.

I seem to remember that it packed in briefly once before but started to work again.

Is it much of a problem to replace?

You have to peel back the carpet behind the door opening to access the mechanism and solenoid. Access is fiddly but possible. Check for 12v at the solenoid when you activate / deactivate the central locking. If the voltage is present I guess the solenoid's gone. If no voltage then may be a loose connection (I think the connectors by the upper door hinge bolts carry solenoid signals - check these), or a problem with the alarm.

Like a lot of these glitches, it could just be a case of fiddling with the connections

before you go to too much trouble try adding 2 millimetre or so of packing to the doorwhere the small rubber pad is that abuts the switch. This sorted out the problem with mine

I had the same problem with my passenger door.I carefully removed the carpet at the rear door post.Checked the operation off the solenoid which was OK,it turned out to be the mechanism was sticking,I cleaned it and lubicated it with copperease problem sorted.
