judders when cold

when shifting from first to second at fairly low revs the cars judders (almost like i've let go of the clutch too early, kinda like a learner would do)

is this a fairly normal thing for a cold V8 or is my gearchange crap?

note that i dont change anything after five minutes and it doesn't judder at all...

mine is real lumpy when cold.i usually let it idle in the garage for a minute or two.

I don't think so low that it would be the cause.

I think it is just a bit 'lumpy' when cold. could this also be a battery problem. i've been having real problems with battery drain and non-starting

Lumpy when cold too - wants to stall for first 30 seconds or so. Difficult or can't start it if it stall within 30 seconds or so - have to leave for 20 minutes. OK after that.

Mines a git when cold as well, so I just leave it running for a min or two also.

had my 4.5 3 months now, ALWAYS let tickover for about 5-8 minutes, or until oil temp is showing 50. a few blips before moving off and have no problems at all. dont really let rip for a few miles, and obviously gets better when in its stride.

The worst way to warm an engine is to let it idle for long periods.
Its much better to start and drive, or start and vary the revs to prevent bore glazing.

How do you know what temp your oil is?
I always run the Griff until the temp is at normal, usually about 5 mins or so before I go out in it. I don't have the problems you guys are reporting but it does feel and act like it wants to stall when I'm bringing it out of the garage when its cold.

Yep, it`s only just staying warm enough over night in the garage or during the day at work that I can get in and go. It`s needed a minute or so to get some warmth through to the clutch until now. I get a perverse kick out of my (our) car(s) not being good in the mornings......
