brake squeel

fed up with squeeling brakes under light brakung conditions, still happening after a heaving braking session on the airfield on monday.
not had the car long, recent new discs an pads on the front, discs okay on the rear, but fitted new pads last weekend, all calipers removed and cleaned with film of copperslip behind all pad surfaces ect. there are no anti squel shims at all , are they used?
have done about 1000 miles since getting the car 2 weeks ago, with 400 of these miles on the new rear pads, is this just a case of keep going and the brakes still need to bed in and the noise dissapear??

Hi Clive,
You don't say if it is the front, rears or both that squeal?
Copperslip is not the best product to use on disc brakes, especially fronts on trackdays as they get damn hot, I use mintex Cera Tec lubricant which has a much thicker consistancy and will cope with the heat. Apply it the the "T" lugs of the pads, the calliper runners and across the back of the pads. One other thing i do is to file the burrs and paint off the "T" lugs of the pads so they run smoothly in the calliper runners.

they should have it or something similar, I tend to use a local motor factor for my bits and bobs as they have a wider range and get me stuff in to order. They are usually much cheaper than Halfruads to.

thanks Bluebottle, bought some high temperature grease for brakes at a local motor factors yesterday and put some on, so far the squeel has dissapeared, I think it was mainly the rears making the noise.
