Shock choice

Griff in at moment, for usual spring fettling.
I was about to have Nitrons fitted, but then Ohlins came into the conversation..I am looking to do some track days later this year, but have heard Nitrons can sometimes be prone to requiring regular servicing.After spending a few dollars the last thing I want over the next couple of years is any laid-up time. Is it worth going the extra for Ohlins?

.. but you'd still have to have ohlins serviced to maintain their peformance .. ideally you should service your dampers just like the rest of the car .. changing to ohlins won't stop that .. in fact if you spent ohlins money you'd be daft *not* to have them serviced to maintain their performance, otherwise why bother buying them in the first place?

Certainly, this is true, but I have heard of occasions of cases of very regular attention being required. Is this a case of bad news spreads further, faster, and I would still be better saving the pounds and opting for the Nitrons.

I think that Ohlins recomend service and oil change every two years, If it were me I'd keep the old Billys and do it.
Two years doesn't seem long but when you think about the low mileage some Tivs do it makes sense to get underused seals checked out and possibly changed.

For £50 Nitron will service your shocks and extend the gaurantee for another 12 months.Like Trackcar says,if your buying a top performing shock,then its surely a good idea to get them serviced regularly?To pay £50 each year to have them performing at their best and also have them always under gaurantee seems like excellent value to me.

Yes its true, the oval racers and others have their shocks serviced every winter,why not keep the shocks at optimum performance.
