clutch slip?

enjoying my new toy immensely, but on the way back from c/coombe yesterday I found that if in a high gear and chose to accelerate without changing down, the clutch would very briefly slip, also, when hot on tickover there was a dry wirring sound to be heard from the tunnel area, this was the only time that I have heard this.
just hoping that this may be normal? appreciate a lot of power is trying to get to the wheels, is it best to change down because of this fact, or does it sound like the begining of the end of my clutch??

thanks andy, because its a big job I`m hoping it does`nt deteriorate to much so I can replace it when its off the road during the autumn/winter months, I`ll try some lube as you suggest through the access hole. have you done yours yourself, is it easy to get access to the bolts to seperate the engine from the bell housing, as the rest of it appears to be straight-forward enough to drop the gearbox out.

hoping to make it last until september, intend to do it myself by spliting the gearbox, is it easy enough to get to the top bolts holding the bell housing to the engine?

in the event of having to buy a complete clutch, any suggestions as to where to buy, I`ve looked on the tvr car parts site, will come to approx £330 `ish.
I sprayed some lubricant onto the release bearing this evening, its nice an quiet for now, but I`ll see how long it lasts.

havent completely tried it yet, this weekend I will get underneath and disdonnect the slave cylinder and pushrod to try to ease the bearing back from the fingers of the housing to spray it up properly, with the small amout of slip that has been occurring I hope that if the bearing stays okay I can nurse it through the summer, but it never works out as planned does it!!

bit the bullet and ordered a new one today, no point putting off the inevitable, so hoping to get under the car and fit this weekend, any tips, pointers , advice which could save me some agravation greatly appreciated.

If there is an extra piece of metal on the end of the fingers on the new clutch cover, break it off! The clutch kit that I was supplied had this piece of metal on and I wasn't aware of the problems it would cause (it doesn't quite allow full release of pressure applied to the release arm). It is on there for another application and is not suitable for ours.
