Griff and a set of 18 inch Spider Alloys

I spoke direct to Neil Anderson (Griff suspension guru) at the factory and he categorically assured me that 18" spiders WOULD NOT fit without significant work. I was looking at a 16/18 spider upgrade at the time.
Ian A.
Did he say because of the offset and 4/5 stub hub thing? otherwise I don't see why they would not fit...

David.....You had yours back yet?
Not yet Rob, the clutch is done but Rob(V8) is going to set the engine up for me and take it to their local wheel alignment centre.
It should be back early next week. I'll be using Richard again to transport the car back to me because I damaged my leg recently and am unable to drive
So I'll only be able to look at the thing for about 3 weeks before I can drive it

Only look at it,yeah right in a pervy sort of way I bet
Prefer it not there at all than it being there with those wheels fitted and not being able to drive it,bet you give it a quick rub when its back
the car I mean

Hello I have 18" black spider alloys on my yellow griffith 500 the only problem i have with them was on full lock they were hitting just had to use 5mm spacers on the fronts all now ok but i can not go anywhere near kerbs, pot holes because they are very low profile tyres!!!!!!!!!!
Get some pics up then,!!!!

If you wanted to fit the spiders, are the 5 stud hubs easy enough to get hold of,off the shelf somewhere,or do you have to get the 4 stud originals re-drilled?
You can use the 5 stud rear hubs off a Granada but I can't remember if the pcd was correct
ANTONYJ But the factory converstion uses the 4 stud hubs drilled out to the 5 stud PCD with rings on the back of the origonal hub (the 114.3mm pcd needed is very close to the edge of the origonal hubs).
antonyj really is the best man to advise though, he passed on all the info to me when I was looking at doing it, but I ended up going the factory route.

Ah-hem , the PCD from a Granny is 112mm. The TVR spiders pcd is 114.3mm.
Using the Granny hubs means you can redrill without the PCD's interfering.
With the four stud hubs there is the problem of the PCD's overlapping however you try.
The other (and TVR's,Mels) approach is to have a ring fitted behind the original hub face with the new pcd, and just drill the hub to suit. This means it doesnt matter if the PCD's overlap.
The front hubs are slightly too small on the diameter for the 114.3 pcd, I had mine altered , but the ring seems to over come this too.
I have used the offset calculators around and I "think" that rear "et33" spiders could be ok all round.
I have tried "et42" on the front and they rubbed at full lock, we all know that steering lock blocks have been mentioned.
On ebay at the moment is a kit with the hubs, calipers and discs, for £1195.
