The wanring lights on the Griff dash, are they easy to remove without getting to the rear of the dash ? If not, what's the best route for access ? Thanks ?

Do you mean the warning cluster panel or the warning lights between the tacho and the speedo.
I don't know if you can get in behind with the dash in, as I have the whole dash and surround off at the mo.
The warning lights between speedo and tacho have a 1/2" nut behind them.
The warning cluster panel has a steel bracket with two 8mm nuts, one to the right of the side light button and one to the left of the hazzard button.
For the cluster panel lights assuming you can reach behind, the individual lights are push fit,so it's a "squeeze and push out" joby.

You'll have to get to the rear of the dash - they won't come out forwards. Attachment is as v8ag says. It's far far easier to remove the dash to get access and see what you're doing. I know it sounds a pain, and it is fiddly the first time - but it'll make the job a lot smoother and easier in the long run.

V8SAG gives you a brilliant description there.

I thought a picture might help but although I've put it up here I'm not sure how much help it will be for you because its not so good.
You can see the alternator warning light between the two large instruments in the middle - it has red tape on. You can see the nut V8SAG talks about on the back of that. As he also says, the warning lights are on a bar secured at each end with a nut. one of the nuts is just visible in the picture to the right of the fuel guage (that will test you!), the other is the one you remove to take out the dash.
So now you can see what you are up against.

This was my first go at taking the dash out, and I wouldn't bother trying to work on anything behind here without taking it out again. For one, it's too difficult to reach anything even after taking out the stereo and for another taking the dash out is not as scary as it reads in the manual. Take off the steering wheel by removing the six screws, half undo the bolts holding the steering column, unscrew and two screws underneath speedo and rev counter, pull out the left vent and remove the nut above the hole - this might be a bugger to do! - mask the dash so you don't scratch it and ease out the left side first, then tilt the bottom outwards and it will come out.

Very useful thanks. It's the strip cluster I'm talking about, presumably it's just an unsoldered spade connection to the cables ?

I've had a closer look at the pictures I took and yes, they are all unsoldered spade connectors of the same type as you can see on the clocks.
