Replace or recover seats? opinions please!!!

The seats in my Pre cat Griff are looking a little tired now the question is should I have the seats recovered in new Magnolia leather at a cost of about £500
or should i replace the seats with these? For about £350 in Magnolia to match the car.

I have measured the seats and they are very slightly narrower than the origonal griff seats. But when I drove a Se7en with these seats fitted they were very comfortable and the support they gave was excellent....

But should I stick with the original seats on the name of originality and will it affect the value of the car if it has better but non-origonal seats in it?

If I repace them then I might gave a set of griffith seats for sale...

see it that way: the griffs original seats are comfortable but not the very best for a sportscar of this power. i personally prefer the originals because they give a more comfortable drive. but mine is a griff 4.3 first series and therefore very hard to drive even on german roads. would suggest that you just try it and don´t think that an improvement to the seats might be able to reduce the worthness of your car. TVRs were and never will be perfect - i hope. So any personal improvement for your personal car will find an owner in the future. if you´re going to sell it some day. i would never sell mine again.

I'd say it depends how original you want your car to be. If you aren't worried about originality or if the car has already been altered then go ahead and change the seats. If it's original you might be improving things for you now but limiting your market when you come to sell it.

I've got Cerb seats in my Griff and they are a load better.

At worst, fitting is probably a case of drilling new holes in the floor and/or having subframes made up. So it's reversible - not the end of the world from a devaluation point of view.
Are you sure your seats are beyond saving (aside from retrimming)? Removing them for a good clean and feed can work wonders.

Regarding cleaning and feeding the seats- I have had several opinions from specialists in leather and the opinion is due to the amount of cracks in the surface even if they were re-Connolised the cracks would just get worse so re-trimming or replacement is the only long term answer

There is no drilling or subframe necessary to fit Cerb seats in a Griffith, they drop straight into the original bolt holes providing you fit the noddy little bracket from the bottom of your Griff seats.

dont supppose you know where i can get some cerb seats in magnolia?
Have already tried Douglas Valley they have nothing in that colour and they quoted £350 for seats that need recovering (350+500=ouch!)

Personally i'd go for Cerbera seats to maintain some element of TVR originality (they were fitted to the last 100LE's) Rich...

I would stick to the originals, but with some small improvements - Change the padding around to provide improved support, and use some Alcantara inserts (cooler(?) in summer, warmer in winter, and hold you in place better).

I vote for keep the originals. I think anything else will look out of place unless you're uprating other things for track, competition or generally updating. If you want holding into the seat get harnesses or a CG lock.
