NEED A NEW DASH :-(

BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER

Pushed the side lights button and my finger went straight through the hole !!!!!

BEFORE ALL YOU NON TVR OWNERS MOAN ABOUT BUILD QUALITY IT IS 13 YEARS OLD AND NOTHING ELSE HAS EVER FALLEN OFF ETC

I took the dash to bits and it just needs epoxy resin to reattach the metal plate so looked like an easy fix !!!

Then when putting it all back i twisted the dash and managed to send a crack from bottom to top arrghhhhhhhh

Anyone know if they make the metal dash anywhere and if so how much as think i may as well upgrade whilst messing around !!! ( woul love red backgrounds to the dials as well but havent seen them yet !)

Any ideas on new dashes or refacing greatly appreciated as havent done any of this since i replaced the wood trims on the doors of my old wedge years ago and if i remember correctly that cost me an arm and leg !!!

Leven do stainless replacements - £150. But recent postings make me wonder whether they've stopped doing these?

We are still doing the stainless dashes and are actually doing more than ever!
Trying to keep all the versions in stock all the time is proving difficult.

The problem with Pre-Cat dashes is that TVR were not consistant with the instruments and hence the hole sizes on the first few cars they made. This means that every dash has to be made to order. This is only true of cars with Stewart Warner instruments. Once you get to about 1994 everything is OK.
Also the instrument fit is somewhat novel in the early cars!
If anyone would like more info please call me, it is easier to explain over the phone than type!

Why not supply precat dashes with the holes big enough for the instrument body, but not the bezel? That way precats can mount their instruments conventionally. Surley such holes would allow conventional mounting of either instrument type? Obviously you'd have to warn owners their bezels wouldn't be flush - but that's a small price to pay for instruments that don't dissapear under braking...

The problem with early cars is that the instrument body and bezel diameters vary without reason esp the clock of all things.
Also some owners do not wish to change the 'look' of flush instruments.
Of all the early dashes we have only ever made one special for a customer where the instruments fitted in the normal way.

My brother Makes carbon fibre ones and has one in his Griff 500 with matching heater plate, Not much more than the Stainles steal ones but look better IMOA, if you like i could e-mail you a pic.

according to shane @ SFR, these 'overlays' do not work. (he basically said to the suggestion) and said they looked like regular dashes, that need installing the hard way with wires out etc

to confirm, do they really simply fit over the top of the existing dash? if so, is it really a case of just glueing it on?

eek! sorry for the confusion b he didn't rubbish your suggestion, he was rubbishing mine! I have one of those overlays that I have covered in carbon fibre (at great expense) but like Shane I am now dubious as to whether they do fit over the exusting dash. I was just looking for evidence of people who have used overlays in griffs

Bought the same dash as you and fitted with no problems!

I changed my mind completely and had it covered in a red alcantara along with the gaiters and door panels - not everyones taste i'm sure but i love the look and with the new carpets the whole thing just looks more up to date IMHO
