removing kick plates

Has anyone suceeded in removing the alloy {or stainless } protector plates that appear to be glued to the sill in the door openings? I mean in one piece! cheers John.

No, but having fitted them I can tell you that they are (normally) fixed with two thin strips of double-sided foam tape. At least, mine were.

If yours are as well, I'd suggest trying a modelling knife with long thin snap-off blades to cut through the centre of the tape.

Hi John,

I would try using a thin cord in a sawing action, but it may keep snapping. I fitted mine but cant remember if it was discreet tabs or a full sheet of double sided tape.

I'd love to be able to tell you if the sill protectors are on sticky strips, or pads, but alas, they were on when i bought the car!

Sounds encouraging that the old beasty is nearly ready for paint.

I took mine off recently for painting the car and had to trash them. they had been fitted with 15 tubes of sealant/no-nails. tried all sorts to save them but had to give in.

Not got any yet I am getting some titanium ones made.
