to cut a long story short
i fitted a new carpet set last week and went to use the car sunday and it turned over but would not start, on the second attempt noticed that i could not hear the fuel pump prime.
a read of the bible so i decided to check the inertia switch as i had been crawling in spaces i didnt know exist to fit the carpet, removed the glove box and made sure the switch was pulled up sic pic
still could not here the pump prime.
Also switched the alarm on and off as suggested in the bible
next step i decided to pull the fuse box out as i had took this out to fit the carpet and check for loose wire's and
then had another go at starting and still no prime so went back to the fuse box and noticed that the relay hilighted in the next pic was quite warm
in the owners maual this is described as the courtesy light delay unit
where as the relay for the fuel pump is said to be sitting on the top of the battery next to the ecu have had visual look at them and touched and no heat.
just wondering if the relay hilighted in the above pic could be cause as not to electricly inclined

you were both correct the interia switch has to be pushed in, so must have pushed it up a bit when fitting the carpet some how and came to the conclusion that it should be pulled out, pushed it in and it fired up straight away.made me a very happy man
