Griff 500 how many?

How many Griff 500 were made? I need to settle a discussion\arguement with my mate

Somewhere I have a document that gives a list of how many were made of all variants not sure where but it was a buying guide from one of the sites linked to this. I can say however that my car is number 2666 no number of the beast comments please. It was made in 1999. This could be number of griffs as opposed to just 500's

I bet nobody at TVR even knows! So many variants and hybrids were built that I bet its near on impossible to get a definitive answer.

That's the problem. No/sketchy records and each TVR employee has a different answer (see Roger Shackletons book). It's an answer that will never be known 100%.

I am blatantly quoting Mr Heaths Bible as of 2002; and it says

Griff 4.x 716
Griff 500 1729

Not sure if he missed a few of the last editions but that is the figure given.

Sadly more than a few have been lost so the true figure is down on that

I had to calculate the figures based on average build run rates as TVR did not know. TVR have used my figures in some cases but they are not accurate to the final car.

This seems ludicrous to me! In my business my accountant knows exactly what we have sold and for how much. As far as I know company law requires records to be kept for a least seven years. Maybe TVR didn't keep any accounts and sold Griffs to there dealers for cash and pocketed the dosh!!!
