removing alternator bracket to see oil leak

So as to get a better look at where oil is leaking from the front of my Serpentine engine I want to remove the alternator bracket and the belt tensioner. It looks as if there are just three bolts holding it in place two above and one below the pulley.

Is that a correct assumption or will I fined some other problem ? From what I can see the valley gasket is dry and the oil is leaking out directly above the filter but not from the filter itself. Is it OK to run it briefly without the belt on ?

I had a small oil drip around this area and had same symptons as you.
On further investigation I found that the oil light sensor had failed.
New one £11 ish but pain to fit cos very tight for space plus an earth point in way.

Make sure you disconnect the battery before going anywhere near the alternator with spanners.

Out of interest it was the oil pressure switch, looked like it had received a bit of a knock as it was deformed and was gushing between the body and the threaded bush. Just over fiver at the local landy dealer.
