Starting problem - any ideas?

Filled up with petrol this morning and she wouldn't re-start. Everything seemed normal, ignition lit up, petrol pump whirred etc but that final twist of the key and nothing. Dead - not even an attempt to turn over or even a click. Left it 20 mins and all works as normal.

Then same happened again this afternoon. Let it cool down for 20 mins and OK again.

Any ideas ??

Do a search for 'Hot Start Problem' and you will find plenty of good information - its a very common problem with a couple of different solutions.

Most common problem is an over heated starting motor, as it was in our case.

Can be solved with the installation of a heat shield.

As said before try a search and look in the FAQ.

the problems are heat soak Buggering up the Starter/ the solinoid sticking and when hot not enough Power getting to it.

Once they start playing then you find the will continue and become a problem at every petrol stop.

You can get a reckon or new then add heatshield which some say helps and others dont? another arguement.
