What's this hole??

Admiring with my 96 Griff 500, I noticed for the first time a hole in the manifold...just to the RHS of the power steering reservoir.

Looks like something's missing.. but I have no idea what.

Hole is circled...seems to go into the mirky depths inside the engine..


Should the hole be there..if so what's it for.. or should I cover it up?

I have a hole as well


If look carefully you can see the valley gasket under the hole so nothing to worry about

As far as I can see from the picture, the hole is in the bottom of the inlet manifold. There's nothing normally mounted here.
