Underneth the engine bay yesterday tightened a few bolts that were a little loose and refitted the exhast bolt to the engine, fitted my battery lead to the engine as advised whilst doing these little jobs I noticed where my oil drip had been coming from the oil pressur sender unit. Easy to get to I just nipped it up, big mistake It dont work now. reading just less than 10 all the time. the wire going into it isnt broken but the connector on it is suspct not sat in the housing securely.

Cut a long story short I want a new one. Any tips where? how much? and any advisable mods?

There are a couple of different versions of this unit Ricko. One with a single terminal on the top where the wire 'bolts' on. One with a couple of spade connector terminals. I replaced mine just yesterday, it was the 'bolt' on version.
I got it from Prestige Performace Cars at Melton Mowbray. Tel Glynn on 01664 481065 - he had a couple out talking to me on the phone yesterday so will know what you are talking about. Cost £35+value added thievery.

The old unit - looks like the araldite came unstuck and the pressure on the wire inside causes it to break.

The new unit. Note that the new unit already has the adapter in place (2nd nut and thread to the right of it is an adapter which you transfer over)

Cheers

Mine looks like its the other one with a single what looks like spade connection? It seems to be a little stubbier. Its the same as the picture in the bible. Is it something from the standard Rover engine? If so got a friend who has a spares shop he can get just about anything but he needs a cross reference number usually.

I recently had similar symptoms to you after giving the thing a tweek; scary huh?!

Anyway, I got a new one from TVR Carparts; it was £56 delivered. Problem solved.

The plot thickens!!! took the unit off this morning to check it out etc and now my oil warning light is on. Looks like I disturbed a wire or something in the connector just below. It seems it is a weak point (amongst others) and has room for improvement. I want to find out more about this set up and sort it out once and for all. I am led to believe that this is caused by the pressure switch somewhere further up? The bible doesnt seem to say anything about it and I am not sure where it is?

Does anyone know the donor car the Pressure Sender unit comes from or the part number??? I want to track down if their is an improvement which will give the same fitting and output?

Hi,
the oil pressure sendor is matched to the gauge so there are a variety. I got mine from a TVR dealer to ensure the correct match to give the right readings. I'm fairly sure the oil pressure switch is standard rover.
