Judder/grind when pulling away

Hi all..

I've started to notice a judder/mechanical-grind whilst the clutch engages when pulling away in 1st (2nd also). If I release the clutch quite slowly it doesnt happen at all.

The clutch behaves perfectly when changing gears (it's only done ~6000 miles) and there is no noticable slipping under acceleration which makes me wonder whether it could be diff related?

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

It's possible you have a broken finger in the clutch?

Ouch..

I was hoping for a wallet-friendly response!

I'd thought about a possible damaged release-bearing or finger but wouldnt they cause noticable issues when changing through the gears? This only occurs when pulling away from a standstill. Once the clutch is fully enagaged I can give it full loud-pedal and there is no grinding at all..

If it does turn out to be the diff can anyone recommend somewhere for a recon?

All sorts of clutch problems show up when the clutch is slipping and go away once it is fully engaged. It may just be contamination on the clutch plate, but it may be a mechanical failure inside the clutch. Something to be aware of is that if it does turn out to be a broken finger, others may soon follow and you may suddenly find yourself with no drive at all. It can happen quite suddenly once it's started.
