Rear window

My rear window has come un-stitched in one corner. Can it be re-stitched without removing the complete hood from the car? Is there a specialist in the Kent area? Thanks

Did mine myself. You need several very sturdy needles, some strong appropriately coloured thread, two pairs of pliers and an assistant. Working from the inside with the hood up pass the needle through one of the existing holes, (initially they are difficult to find but once you get going they will fall into place). Then the assistant passes the needle back. Did about half of the window in about 20 mins and broke at least four needles doing it. Chances are however that if the window thread is rotten then the rest of the hood probably is as well.

We tried doing that by hand when ours first started to fail. It didn't work at all.

I would suggest a new hood. We went the DIY installation route and I would suggest it is not for the faithearted!

Similar subject - is it possible to replace just the clear part? Mine has got scratched over the years (plastic polish never seems to help much) but the rest of the hood is in excellent condition.

i recently had my hood replaced and targa top recovered,it cost £499 incl vat and looks great.(i don't even want to fold the rear section as i am concerned about creases in the plastic )
the company that did this for me are Hoods Galore and are based in leigh on sea in Essex...web site should be easy to find.
They took 3 days but only due to getting replacement bolts which caused a delay i think they normally say 2 days should be enough for a griff

Now had my rear window only replaced by Mosley Coach trimmers in Lamberhurst Kent 01892 890488. Great job and reasonable price.
To save money on labour I took the hood off and re fitted it it's a b-st-rd job!! The two self tapping screws behind the seats were rusty and would not unscrew, one broke and I had to drill the other out! Took me all morning to fit it back on!! The three rear bolts that go through into the boot are v hard to get at. Cheers.
