Does anyone out there own one of these (or whatver they are called) that we could borow or they could bring to the Growl? That way we can have the obligatory 'sound off' at the Growl (...and its not coz Iv just had my zorst sleeved either.... )

Maplin did have them on a special instore a while back, about £29.99 if I remember. Was a month ago at least.

I think the wadding in my car's silencer got ejected on fire when the fuel pressure reg failed...
Going to be fun to hear it with the ACT manifolds are on.

When I wanted to measure my car I went along to a sprint meeting as a spectator and had a chat with one of the marshals on noise check duties. When all the cars had been checked he let me measure my car that was nearby in the car park.

The ones from Maplin will be okay for relative comparisons, but not to get an accurate figure - they need to be calibrated. So yes you could compare each others cars, but you couldn't for example tell whether you'd get on a particular track day or not.

Saw one of them there gizmo thingys in the stores at work, will have a look see tomorrow and let you know. Should be calibrated too.

Should have also added Tez and I will be at the Growl (again). Mine did 103dB at 4K last year and it's standard. Not a patch on Hoovers if I remember right.

Got the gizmo, will fetch to the growl. It has its own calibration gadget in the box too to reset after transport...probably due to excessive G in the corners.
Seem to remenber from last year that the measurement is taken 1m back at 45 degrees? Any offers
