Griffth - no alarm or imobilliser fitted as standard

Just renewed my insurance and according to the ABI (British Insurers Associate) the Griffith has no alarm or immobiliser fitted as standard - therefore stating mine has the factory Meta system fitted made not a jot of difference to price! - thats great as no-one seems to know if the damm thing is Thatcham 1 or 2 and my siren gave up the ghost on Saturday

Everyone seems to have a different opinion caused by the change of sensors and lack of bonnet protection. If the ABI says it has none then thats great as in the event of a theft there should be no dispute as to its status unless of course you have stated it has been fitted as an extra and that its a Thatcham 1, which of course it would be except its not fitted with the correct sensors.

I'd always assumed that it was a cat1 system,I though i'd read on here in the past,that someone on here has had this confirmed from the factory
Has anyone had anything in writing,from either Thatcham,or the factory?

Original precat Griffs had a dealer fit alarm... usually Gemini. 500s went from Foxguard to Meta.

My 4.3 Griff's was a Meta and I'm sure it was only an immobiliser.

I heard they were originally classified as Cat 2 (Cat 1 for the foxgaurd alarm on later ones) but this was downgraded to be non-Thatcham approved after a few years as technology moved on. However, this maybe incorrect and they were never approved.

For what its worth I had a long talk with Norwich Union as you do with any insurer as soon as you mention TVR. Their system identifies a factory fit meta as Cat 2. This agrees with page 263 of the second edition bible.
