My interior blower fan sometimes decides to run very slowly, without me changing the speed control.Has anyone else had this?
I'm guessing it could be inadequate wiring,so when hot the motor slows. It could also be on the control side though i guess?
Where is the fan located?Anybody got any pics please,as they would likey be very helpfulCheers,Mike

Hmmm...I've just been trawling the archives and i'm a little confused. It apperas that some(earlier?)cars have the blower in the front of the n/side wing, other(later possibly)have them in the passenger footwell,is this correct?Surely someones seen one or had one out on a late car?Mines a 2000 model btw.Cheers,Mike

Hi Mongoose, replaced my fan motor last winter with other mods. See link below for location. As for the motor and wiring, its off a Nova.

hope this may help. Dave

AFAIK the earlier cars only had one heater fan, underneath the passenger headlamp.
Later on an additional fan was fitted to the drivers inner wing, but near to the A post.

Cheers antony, but this is the extra 'booster' fan that your talking about, unfortunately not all cars had them, and mine doesn't.
I'm just a little unsure where mine is located,is it in the passenger footwell area,or is it under the passenger headlamp on my late 2000 model?

Sorry , you've lost me, do you think you have a problem with the main heater fan (under nearside headlamp) or the cold air booster one?

The booster one (going from pics of BB's when he bent it) is inside the wing by the A post.
Not sure if there is a inspection/access panel to it.

I only have one fan.this is the blower fan,but i don't know if it's located in the passenger footwell,or under the n/side front headlamp?I have read things that suggest that it might have been moved into the passenger footwell on the later cars, but don't know for sure?
Cheers,Mike.

Hmmm now I see, the only thing I can suggest is to switch the fan on, and put your head down by the headlamp, even if its only running slow you should hear it.......

Mongoose,

I don't know if you may have already solved your fan problem, but have you checked that it isn't the control box that could be causing your problem.

The speed controller for the fan is a Pulse Width Modulated type using a FET attached to a large heatsink. I had a similar problem when I first purchased my Grif and solved it by replacing the FET.

It could also be a worn/faulty potentiometer on the control panel, these have a habit of 'popping' apart and failing.

Hope this is of some help, drop me an email if you require any other information.

I've a 1992 Griff. tThe fan nestles under the passenger side headlight.

Gday GriffOz, looked at your pic, where does the duct run? Sorry Mongoose for pinching your thread, were you the bloke I was talking to at Chatsworth about the slots near the boot leading edge on some Griffs for air vents? cheers, John.

Hi john, yes that was iI think you will find there is no ducting for the fan,as they use the inner wing space as ducting! The kind of thing that 60maxx has done should improve things a fair bit i imagine,i guess your still in a good position to be able to do this at the mo?or have you finished yet?Are you going to the growl by the way?

Mongoose is right. The fan just blows onto the underside of the headlight pod. The theory I imagine is that this pressurizes the whole wing space. There is a void that disappears over the wheel arch between the skins and this void is then tapped into up the cabin end with the air hoses for the heater. No ducting per se, hence the heat "waft" rather than blast. Seems a bit morning tea "Oh f@@@, we've forgotten to find a place for the heater fan" doesn't it?

Hi guys, thanks for the info, I,d swear blind that the designers of TVRs and LOTUS must be related, sounds like a LOTUS trick to me. I am sadly unable to attend the growl [ in Ireland for the first time ] but hope to be at the BNG on Sunday, hope to be in the griff but still waiting for the painter, cheers, John.
