Central Door Locking - HELP!!

Hi Chaps,

Basically my doors will lock with the remote but will not unlock....

I have just taken the rad out to back flush and replaced the thermostat etc etc.. before I did this, I disconnected the battery and it was left overnight..

Today I put it all back together (also cleaned the bottom earth connection under rad),
Reconnected the battery, the alarm 'clicked' and now it all works fine except the unlocking of the doors.

Is there a separate relay? for the unlocking as opposed to the locking??

When I reach in through the open window and open the driver door using the handle it unlocks both doors as it should, when I set the alarm it bleeps and locks the doors, when I disarm it bleeps but doesnt unlock the doors, any pointers where I should start to look??

Hello chris,i experienced this recently,whilst on the way back from Monspa.I was told to just unplug the Meta ecu,leave for a couple of minutes and plug back in,as it sometimes becomes 'confused' apparently.Anyway,after i did this it worked fine,and has done scinceYou'll find the Meta unit near the heater ecu by the way!

Hi Mongoose,

Is this the CDL relay behind the dash? or are you refering to the META alarm?

I had the alarm replaced with a 'laserline CAT1' system a couple of years back. I think it could be the alarm but obviously the alarm chap will point to the electrickery of TVR?!

If you mean the relay then I will have a dig and unplug it.

Let us know...

BTW - I had a quick look for the recirc motor and could find it but couldnt find any contacts to put the meter. I could see 4 of the 5 wires (couldnt see the black) but the red disappeared into the motor, I didnt know if i could 'clip' the black plastic front off the motor???

On the Meta the usual trick is to remove the battery earth for 5 secs then reconnect. Worth a try even though you dont have a meta.

Chris,my alarm is the Meta,i didn't realise you had a different system to standard.I'll have to take a look at the motor for the re-circ,as i can't remember too much exactly without going back.I'm convalescing from an op at the mo.so it'll be a couple of days before i can take a look and crawl into the footwell .What about using an insulation piercing probe on the cables?I'm not too keen on these myself,but they can be usefull sometimes i guess.

This morning I 'wiggled' all the wires going into the siren (I think this is also the alarm ECU) and then it all worked!!!

I should have tried it first without touching the siren.

I guess this proves something to do with the alarm.
I have the alarm fitter coming to give it its 'yearly' check this week so will mention it to him.
