creaking noise.

out in the griff yesterday, and I have 2 annoying noises that are starting to spoil my enjoyment of driving the car.
the first being brake squeel, this is still driving me mad at slow braking, I`ve stripped and cleaned more times than I care to remember and have also added copious amounts of ceramic hich temp grease to the backs of the pads, which only works for a short while before squeeling again.I think the only way to solve this may be to put new discs on the rear, I`m sure that this is where the noise is coming from, and they look a bit pitted, but not badly worn.
the other noise that is starting to worry me is what sounds like the bodywork creaking on the chassis from the back of the car.up to 40mph going over bumps ect, dodgy road surface, and sometimes on a corner the car creaks like grandma`s old rocking chair.
could this be worn or possibly a sheared body mount bolt?
I will read up on the bible tonight, has anyone on here had a similar experience, is there a particular bolt that is prone to wear an tear etc. any help appreciated, thanks.

Brake squeal I can generally cure by a combination of the following:
Anti-squeal shims (if available)
Grease between the piston and the backplate (you've already tried)
Clean the grease off and use non-setting anti-squeal adhesive instead
Bevel the leading edges of the pads
Clean up the frame that the pads sit it, removing all brake dust and burnt on grease
Do it again but clean it *properly* this time.
If it still squeals after all that, and if you have floating single piston calipers, check the state of the sliders as they may need cleaning/regreasing/replacing.

re the creaking bodyshell, check your door switches, as these cause the door locking motors to chatted over rough surfaces , and can sound like a creaking body.

Not 100% sure but think a part worn/dry rubber/joint could give a creak but i'm no expert !!! GreenV8S said:

Just fitted new pads/disc. All fine when re assembled and piston's wound all the way out. Piston moved reasonably easy with special tool (and long nose pliers when i couldn't find it
) The sliders were moving well as well!! Could this be dirty/sticky slider on the extremity ??
After a couple of brake applications it sounds like the pads are still just touching the disk!! No extra heat or binding...
seasider, you may be right, I removed the rear antiroll bar last week whilst modifying the exhaust, and the noise has been worse since, so I`ve spoken to steve heath and ordered some of his drop link anti roll bar kits.
as for the brakes, seems to be many options available, most expensive being new discs and pads, then its finding a good disc`s etc, and type of pad, I have been using greenstuff, maybe that hasn`t been helping, I`ll take greenv8s advice, strip and clean again, chamfer the edges, and hope its all cured, before spending unneccesarily.

well, all cleaned up again but still squeeling like a guinnie pig in a brothel, so just ordered up some black diamond discs and pads for all four corners, and some of steve heaths drop links.
took the old discs off the rear last night, a lot of corrosion on the inner face of the discs, so new ones will have it sorted.
got a good deal from Need For Speed via the internet.

Sorry to hear you're still having brake squeel problems Clive, hopefully the new discs will cure it as it sounds like your old ones are past their best.
As to the creaking noise, mine did this when cornering and over bumps, and it was the springs/dampers at fault. They were well beyond their sell by date and since replacing have had no creaking sounds.

Sounds like you'll be all ready for the Growl (unlike me!) Hope the new brakes sorts the problem out. It was either the new discs or the polybushes that shut mine up when it was being silly.
I may have found a better solution though - I got the ACT exhaust on, and I now can't hear much else.
